I’m Fran Ortiz, a portraitist and wedding photographer based in Granada. My work starts from a simple idea: weddings deserve boldly honest images. As FdB Photographer of the Year 2022, I focus on creating wedding reports that prioritize authentic emotion, naturalness and a portrait-driven approach so every person appears as they are—without forced poses or filters that hide the truth of the moment. My approach combines the sensitivity of editorial portraiture with the spontaneity of documentary reportage. I work with couples who want to live their day and trust that someone attentive, discreet and experienced will preserve the fleeting moments. From preparations to the celebration, I look for real scenes: unscripted laughter, looks that tell stories and details that later gain more meaning than they had in the moment. How I work: before the wedding we talk—you tell me what matters and what moves you. If you wish, we can do an engagement session (preboda) to build trust in front of the camera so the wedding day feels more natural. On the wedding day I stay discreet and efficient: I prioritise visual storytelling over long poses and step in when the light or a scene calls for a carefully composed image, drawing on my background as a portrait photographer. After the event, I select and edit with an editorial eye the images that best tell your story and deliver them via a professional online gallery to make selection and access easy.
