"A photograph is a secret about a secret, the more it tells you the less you know." This sentence sums up how I understand wedding photography: seeking truth, emotion and narrative without artifice. I'm Iker Azurmendi, a professional photographer with more than ten years of experience in the press, events and editorial work, and I approach weddings from a documentary and photojournalistic perspective. I work primarily in Donostia / San Sebastián and throughout Euskadi. Why entrust me with your wedding reportage? My proposal is simple: intervene just enough so the celebration is lived and felt as such, while at the same time telling it with images that stand on their own. We begin with a conversation to understand your priorities and style; if you wish, we arrange a pre-wedding session to break the ice and plan locations and timing. On the wedding day my approach is discreet and rigorous: I document the ceremony, gestures, embraces and fleeting moments that make up the day's story. Afterwards I carry out a careful selection and editing of the images so the narrative is coherent and enduring. Beyond the documentary coverage, my team includes Virginia, who is in charge of album design and the final visual treatment. Together we look after the presentation of the photographs: albums conceived to preserve the day's narrative and files prepared for printing or sharing online.
